In “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost wrote that “way leads on to way.” Point of the Bluff Vineyards and its collective of other hospitality businesses might be evidence of that.
When the owner of Point of the Bluff first hired winemaker Michael Countryman to oversee the planting of grapevines on his property over a decade ago, there was no winery in the plans. Until the two talked.
In a way, that conversation blossomed into an exquisite bunch of new or reimagined experiences taking place around Keuka Lake.

Not long after that conversation, Michael began making wines for Point of the Bluff. The rustic tasting room on the west side of the lake was built and tastings ensued.
Over the years since, Point of the Bluff has breathed new life into several other businesses in Hammondsport, first with the purchase and remodeling of two landmarks on the Village Square: The Park Inn and Restaurant and its next door neighbor Crooked Lake Ice Cream Company.

The buildings themselves were refreshed, and the philosophy and culinary offerings were taken in a new direction, in particular with a greater focus on locally-sourced dishes.

To that end, ownership purchased Glenn Scott Manor, a charmingly-appointed rental property a short drive outside of town and not far from the tasting room. On that property, they started a Glenn Scott Farm so as to grow their own produce using organic and sustainable practices, hiring a farmer to oversee the project.
It doesn’t get more farm-to-table than that.
In 2020, the winery also started having a Thursday evening Farm Market outdoors which was a big success and will return in 2021.

A few years ago, a gorgeous and rather expansive pavilion was raised out behind the tasting room for concerts and other wonderful experiences.

Top-notch performing acts filled the air with music during the 2019 season, but last year instead of concerts, the group got creative offering open-air yoga classes, a regional arts and crafts market, and even special tasting options using the vast space for safe and enjoyable activities in a time when both were sorely needed.

Keep an eye on Point of the Bluff Vineyards and their collection of awesome businesses as they continue to offer locals and visitors a diverse collection of exceptional experiences.
