Pleasant Valley Beverage Tour
Whether you’re looking to just soak up the relaxed pace of “America’s Coolest Small Town,” do a little antiquing, get out on the most unusual of all the Finger Lakes, or learn about the remarkable history of the region, Hammondsport delivers in abundance. That’s especially true when it comes to the craft beverages you’ll find there.
Stop 1: The Brewery of Broken Dreams
• As you head into town, stop by The Brewery of Broken Dreams and enjoy delicious brews like Crying Loon and Unfinished Business (a tasty session ale with a malty biscuit flavor and hints of toffee and caramel). Crafting unique ales that reflect the many wonderful possibilities of using native ingredients, the brewers make high-quality drinkable brews that are big on traditionally-inspired styles and exceptional flavor.
Stop 2: Cider Creek Hard Cider
• Just off the the Village Square in the center of town, you’ll find the tasting room for Cider Creek Hard Cider, New York State’s most awarded farm cidery. We’re talking unfiltered hard cider made from 100% New York apples. With seasonal favorites like Winter's Cinn, as well as staples like Cran-Mango and Saison Reserve, experience for yourself just how good an apple can taste.
Pit Stop: Treat yourself to lunch in town at Timber Stone Grill for some delicious locally-sourced fare sure to please your taste buds. And it’s located about two miles from the next stop on your tour.
Stop 3: Finger Lakes Beer Company
• Back in 2009, Finger Lakes Beer Company became the second brewery in Hammondsport. Known for the genuine welcoming personalities of the brewers and for popular brews like the award-winning Hammonds-Porter and Copperline Ale, FLBC is conveniently located next door to the Best Western. Try the Ring of Fire, Indian Summer, and Steamboat Stout which all give a playful nod to the rich history around Keuka Lake.
Stop 4: Keg & Barrel Brewing
• The day’s last stop is a straight shot up Route 54 and offers another convenient location (they have their own motel with 7 tastefully updated rooms). A popular spot for local music and great views overlooking the Crooked Lake, Keg & Barrel Brewing features twenty brews, ciders and sours on tap along with some tasty food options like Beef on Weck and a meat and cheese board.
Note: To assure yourself the best experience, you should always check with the brewery before going to learn about availability, current hours of operation, and more. We recommend to give yourself at least an hour at each location to enjoy the quality beverages, beautiful scenery, and friendly staff. You can also find information about Uber, Lyft and other drive-share services online, like Main Street Drivers who will actually take you around in your own car. Please drink responsibly and keep our roads safe.
