Benjamin Patterson Inn and Museum is located in a neighborhood just minutes from the Corning Museum of Glass. The museum complex depicts life in the late 1700s through 1800s, including a one-room school house, the original tavern, blacksmith shop, outhouse, and a log cabin.
How to Enjoy:
Visitors and guests had meals, conducted business, and socialized at the Inn. Would you prefer the guests' quarters or the Patterson family's quarters? Perhaps a hearth cooking or lace making demonstration will be available. Visit the herb garden or fresh hay in the barn.
Related Places:
If you enjoy seeing originals, the Rockwell Museum of Western Art is located in the original city hall building for the City of Corning. Or learn more about the local history of Painted Post at the Painted Post-Erwin Museum at the Depot in Painted Post, New York.
Trivia:
Did you know that tobacco was a cash crop in the Chemung Valley? It would not be unusual to see tobacco growing at the inn's garden to make cigars for the Patterson's guests.
