Finger Lakes Sojourn

Home - What to Do - Attractions - Finger Lakes Sojourn

Welcome to your Sojourn!

Sojourn (so'-jurn) v. To stay in a place for a time.

Come explore the Finger Lakes, area where history took flight, where the arts flourish, where the glass is hot and the water is cool, where a fun filled outdoor adventure is waiting for you. Stay for a day or stay for a week. New memories are just around the bend.

Getting Started

Hiking, biking, or paddling - no matter how you decide to explore our Great Outdoors, bring your GPS and hunt for the treasure caches.

We are pleased to present a series of caches along the shores and within the Chemung and Susquehanna River. The caches are in place no matter what the weather, so join the fun rain or shine. All caches are officially registered with geocaching.com. Sojourners will need to register on geocaching.com to retrieve the coordinates and other location information. Registration on geocaching.com is free.

You can obtain a Sojourn Passport that provides information about the trail and things to do nearby by calling (Toll Free) 1-866-946-3386 or e-mailing sccvb@corningfingerlakes.com. Sojourn Passports may also be obtained in person from the Information Center of Corning and from the Chemung County Chamber Offices.

Each cache has a unique rubber stamp to add to your Sojourn Passport. Please use the stamp only for your Passport and return it to the cache container when finished - the next Sojourner will need it!

Once you have successfully collected 12 or more different stamps, you are eligible to receive a limited edition commemorative coin. Simply mail your passport to the Alliance for Chesapeake Bay, and they will return it to you with your commemorative coin.

You may also encounter an I Love New York Outdoors Travel Bug. Please take the travel bug home with you and place in it a cache in your hometown. Then monitor your Travel Bug's journey as it makes its way back home to the Chemung River.
