Corning's Gaffer District Welcomes AnnaMarri Soy Candles to Historic Market Street

Corning, NY - Corning's Gaffer District is excited to announce the opening of AnnaMarri Soy Candles on Historic Market Street.

Located at 22 E. Market Street in the former site of The School House Country Store, owner Victoria Sardo

recently opened the retail store as an expansion of her growing candle business. Sardo, a Corning native, started the business a few years ago and began selling to family and friends. It didn't take long for the popularity of the products to spread - and the demand for a retail location was imminent.

On Saturday, December 3rd, AnnaMarri Soy Candles opened its doors to customers attending the 37th annual Sparkle. Crowds of customers took in the scents and marveled at the inventory - ranging from unique novelty candles to holiday-themed candles (eggnog, candy cane, gingerbread to name a few) in the specialty boutique - but the scents are not the only unique feature of Anna Marri Soy Candles. Made entirely from American-grown soy, the candles use resources that are organic and sustainable. The wax burns longer and cleaner, delivering a consumable product that has a significantly-lower impact on the environment.

The concept of locally-made merchandise is of paramount importance to Sardo. In addition to using domestic wholesale suppliers for candle products and retail accessories - she also makes every candle herself, in store. The label proudly boasts that each candle is 'hand poured in Corning NY'. When deciding on the location for her retail store, Corning's Gaffer District was a no-brainer for the retailer. Sardo notes, "I am quite honored and very excited to open our store on Market Street. I believe our unique line of candle products, with our great variety of scents to choose from; will provide the community with candles to be shared for every day as well as special occasions. We hand pour each and every candle and feel very strongly that they are a perfect fit for Corning's Historic Gaffer District."

In addition to traditional glass jar candles, customers may also choose from a selection of wax melts and candle accessories. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for early Spring 2012.
