Miniatures and Dollhouse Exhibit to open at the Glenn Curtiss Museum

HAMMONDSPORT, NY- November 4, 2010 - More than 90 dollhouses and miniatures will be displayed at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum from Friday, November 19 through Sunday, February 27. Area miniaturists will exhibit a wide range of treasures, including dollhouses of every style, genre and theme; miniature machinery; model ships; trains, and military figures. Collectors, families and individuals of all ages will enjoy browsing this extensive exhibit.

According to museum Executive Director Trafford Doherty, "The museum celebrates the accomplishments of Glenn Curtiss, but it's also a museum of local history. Our permanent collections represent a rich heritage that includes antique tools, toys, home-furnishings and musical instruments, as well as beautiful dollhouses and miniatures. The annual Miniatures and Dollhouse Exhibit allows us to highlight the treasures in our own collection, along with prized items from miniaturists throughout the Finger Lakes Region."
Admission to the Miniatures and Dollhouse Exhibit is included in the regular museum admission of $7.50 for adults, $6.00 for seniors, $4.50 for students ages 7 to 18 and $20 for families. Children ages 6 and under are admitted free. The museum, which is located at 8419 State Rt. 54 in Hammondsport, is open every Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and every Sunday from 10 am to 4. Curtiss Museum, which is located in the scenic Finger Lakes Region of New York State, celebrates the life and accomplishments of Glenn Curtiss, who is remembered as the father of naval aviation and the founder of the American aircraft industry.
