Kids Rock @ the Rockwell!
CORNING, NEW YORK – The Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning, NY has redesigned and completely revamped the popular ArtPack program! Family drop-in activities remain a cornerstone to an amazing museum experience, allowing the Rockwell Museum of Western Art's bold galleries to come alive! The wildly adventurous scavenger art hunt allows the young and young-at-heart to become trailblazers through the magnificent old West! Best of all, all kids' activities are available free of charge. And kids and teens are always admitted to the Museum for free.
The ArtPacks - backpacks filled with interesting information, creative activities, puzzles and games – are a young trailblazer's guide to the Museum. They approach the Museum's collection through five of the most enduring and appealing subjects of Western art: Cowboys, Native Americans, Wilderness, Horse and new to the series – Explorer!
All include written guides that lead users through a selected part of the Museum's collection, and an activity booklet that encourages them to respond to what they see, and suggestions for creating their own art following the theme. Exploring ideas like Western wilderness, majestic landscapes, the heroic cowboy figure and the richness of a variety of Native cultures and traditions, the ArtPack program is fun and educational.
Taking around 45 minutes to an hour to complete in the Museum galleries, participants can take their activity booklet home with them. Inside, participants will discover more activities to complete when back 'on the ranch.' But before each buckaroo leaves the Museum and after completion of an ArtPack, they are encouraged to stop by the Admission Desk to pick a FREE price out of the prize basket!
Although the ArtPack program is designed for children from ages five through twelve, their appeal is actually much, much wider. Adults and older students love them, and families are finding that some pre-k students enjoy them, too. Meanwhile, adult groups participate in ArtPack tours as well. Best of all, they're free, fun, and yes parents, educational too.
