New website for Corning & the Finger Lakes

Corning, NY - June 24, 2010 – The newly launched Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau (SCCVB) website makes it easier than ever to find fun things to see and do in the area.

The Internet makes access to information nearly instantaneous, but sometimes that information can still be tough to find. The www.CorningFingerLakes.com Website has been redesigned with that in mind. The new layout makes searching easier as the most sought after information (like where to stay and what to do) is featured prominently on the Home Page. "It is so exciting," says SCCVB President Peggy Coleman, "to have a website that better serves our Steuben County partners and visitors at the same time. By having the content management system in-house we are able to make real-time updates to better promote our tourism partners with the goal of increased visitation. We are also able to increase the effectiveness of our search marketing strategies by moving all niche sites, blogs and podcasts under one umbrella. This redesign saves time and money that can be invested in additional marketing programs."

One of the coolest additions to the site is the presence of the interactive "Getaway Godmother" who answers frequently asked questions. For example, if someone wants to know about things to do with the kids, they can ask her. The Getaway Godmother will not only tell them about an assortment of fun activities, but she'll also tell them where to go on the site for more information.

The new website is also easier for the CVB staff to edit which means more immediate and up-to-date information is available for anyone who visits. "We have more space which means we can have more photos," says eMarketing Manager Erin Cassidy. As a result, the site is a much more visual experience and with more photos and more copy visitors can get a better feel for all the exciting things to see and do in the area. An added benefit of the website redesign is that Steuben County attractions, accommodations, and other partners now have access to more images to promote their businesses.

Annual events (as well as special events held throughout the year) and the "50 Fun Things to See and Do" blog are also found on the Home page by clicking on the Events tab and the What's New tab respectively. And if you find something on the site you want to share with your friends on Facebook or Twitter it's as easy as clicking an icon at the bottom of the page.

The SCCVB is the tourism promotion agency for Steuben County, but that doesn't the information they provide is merely for people coming to the area from out of town, The SCCVB wants everyone to discover the wonderful places, faces, and events to be found in Corning & the Finger Lakes. If you've ever sat at home and wondered if there was anything to do, not you have a place to go and find out. The SCCVB's new website is a resource for locals as well as for people who've never been to the area. It's easier to navigate than ever before which means you can spend more time having fun.
