Steuben County Recognized for Internet Marketing

Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau was recently recognized for its comprehensive internet marketing strategies at the NYS Governor's Tourism Conference. At an opening session of the conference, presenter Caylin Sanders, expert in the field of internet marketing, discussed a variety of internet marketing strategies. She queried the 62 counties in the state as to how many of those strategies are currently being implemented by each of the tourism promotion agencies. Among all the counties in the state, Ms. Sanders recognized the Steuben County tourism agency for researching and implementing an impressive variety of new technology-based marketing tools and specifically recognized Stephanie Miller, the E-Marketing Manager for the Steuben County CVB. Ms. Sanders said, "Stephanie is doing a fantastic job - I wish more people in the industry were following her example!"

Among the strategies the CVB implements is monthly E-newsletters which are sent to targeted subscription-based lists and multiple domain names which point to the CVB website (www.CorningFingerLakes.com) as a means of tracking specific advertising and promotion activities. Ms. Miller's proficiency in Dream Weaver has resulted in bringing much of the internet marketing in-house which has meant a real savings of over $10,000 annually to the county tourism bureau. Updates to the website are timely since Ms. Miller can perform those functions in-house.

Peggy Coleman, President of the Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau said, "Steuben County started the trend of E-Marketing in this state with the first paid E-Marketing Manager on staff. I am so proud of the fact that Stephanie is the shining star among 62 counties, 11 vacation regions, one state and multiple private sector tourism businesses. This is really unbiased confirmation that we are on the right track with our internet marketing programs. We can honestly say that Steuben County CVB is a leader in the tourism industry in New York State."

The Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau was established in 1994 to promote the tourism industry of Steuben County and to stimulate economic growth by attracting visitors, groups, and conferences to the county. The CVB is funded primarily by an occupancy tax paid by overnight visitors staying in hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts.
