Dr. Konstantin Frank - Winery of the Year

Hammondsport, New York - Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars has won the title of Winery of the Year again, the first time being in 2001. The New York Wine & Grape Foundation hosted the 2006 New York Wine & Food Classic on August 16, 2006 at The New York Wine & Culinary Center. This year's competition included over 700 New York Wines from the Finger Lakes, Long Island, Hudson Valley, Niagara Escarpment, Lake Erie and other regions of New York State. The Winery of the Year award is presented to the winery with the best overall showing based on the level and number of awards in relation to entries.

Chateau Frank's 2000 Blanc de Noirs won Best Sparkling Wine and Best Vinifera Sparkling Wine! The 2005 Gewurztraminer tied for Best Gewurztraminer in the Best of Class category.

Three wines won Double Gold Medals this year including the 2005 Reserve Riesling, 2005 Gewurztraminer and Chateau Frank's Blanc de Noirs. Seven wines won Silver Medals; 2005 Pinot Gris, 2005 Dry Riesling, 2005, Semi Dry Riesling, 2005 Rkatsiteli, 2003 Cabernet Franc, Chateau Frank's 1999 Blanc de Blancs and finally, Chateau Frank's Celebre.
