2005 Steuben County Visitors Guide Unveiled
Great Getaway Deals are again a prominent feature in this year's guide. Introduced for the first time in 2004, this section proved to be very popular with visitors looking for a quick weekend getaway. One phone call takes care of the details - lodging, activities, and dining - making it fast and easy to plan a weekend escape! The Great Getaway Deals featured are based on themes such as Romantic Getaways, Wine Weekends, Outdoor Adventure Weekends, and more!
In addition to the pre-planned packages, there are plenty of suggestions of fun things to do and see in the area. The guide is a useful resource for visitors and locals alike providing detailed information on local museums, wineries, events, and accommodations. Websites and phone numbers are listed for those who want additional information. Guests can also refer to the CorningFingerLakes.com website for further details.
Based on customer feedback, two new sections have been added to this
year's guide offering valuable information frequently requested by
guests. New this year:
*Winery Tours. This section lists transportation companies offering wine
tours to Keuka Lake wineries.
*Outdoor Adventure Services. This section offers the information guests
need to experience the great natural resources of the area. Listed are
hunting, fishing, and hiking guides, charter services, and boat
rentals. The area map in the guide notes the location of boat launch
sites to facilitate guests' enjoyment of our waterways.
In addition to adding new sections, several sections in the guide were expanded this year. Events, The Arts, Hunting & Fishing, Shopping Delights, and Hotels & Motels all have a greater focus. The back cover of the guide illustrates the location of the area in relation to the Northeast US. It provides mileage information from major cities to Steuben County, information on how to get here by car, by plane, and by bus, and information on car rentals for getting around while in the area.
The production team included Graphic Solutions of Painted Post and Dodge Graphic Press of Utica. The guide will be distributed through visitor information and welcome centers, at consumer and travel trade shows, and in conference welcome kits. It is also mailed in response to requests for information generated from ads, e-newsletters, and tourism websites. Supplies of the guides will be delivered to local attractions and accommodations over the next few weeks.
Tourism in Steuben County is a $156 million a year industry which employs over 2,500 individuals in this county. The Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau was established in 1994 to promote the tourism industry of Steuben County and to stimulate economic growth by attracting visitors, groups, and conferences to the county. The CVB is funded primarily by an occupancy tax paid by overnight visitors staying in hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts.
