Glass made it possible for scientists and artists to see tiny living creatures once invisible to the human eye. Revealing the Invisible: The History of Glass and the Microscope tells the stories of scientists' and artists' exploration of the microscopic world between the 1600s and the late 1800s. Their discoveries fed people's hunger to learn more about nature, increasing the popularity of microscopes and driving improvements in scientific glass. These advances culminated in the 19th century with the advent of modern scientific glassmaking and the perfection of the microscope. Unleash your sense of discovery as you explore the invisible through historic microscopes, rare books, and period illustrations.

Have you always wondered where real maple syrup comes from? Have you sugared in the past and wish to share this special tradition with your children? Do you choose pure maple syrup over Log Cabin©?

Bring your family and join us in the peaceful and relaxing setting of Watson Homestead for an opportunity to immerse yourself in the process of maple sugaring, while spending quality time with those you love.

Throughout the weekend you will get an opportunity to participate in the process of making maple syrup. Everything from tapping trees, collecting buckets, evaporating away water, feeding the fire, and more. At the end of the weekend, you will return home with maple sugar candy and syrup that you actually helped make.

Making maple syrup takes time, however, when not sugaring you may want to read by the fire, play a game of carpetball, take a hike, join in an arts and craft project, help man the fire, or simply relax on your own. Our desire is that a weekend spent together will strengthen your family's bond, making lasting memories, through an authentic hands-on experience. We can't wait to see you in March!

To register, please call Watson Homestead at (607) 962-0541, E-mail whomestead@stny.rr.com, or mail registration form to:

A Family-Fun Day for children ages 5 to 12. This is a child friendly, age appropriate, non-competitive event to bring children together for some of their favorite Spring things: Being Active, Being Outside and Getting Dirty!

The Getting Dirty Obstacle Course is designed to give children over and under fun – wet, dry, slippery and some parts filled with mud! Other challenges will include soap suds, bubbles, slippy slide and athletic whimsies. Parents will be responsible for the getting clean part, so bring towels and a set of clean clothes, plus swim suits for the whole family to enjoy our heated swimming pool afterward.

The fabulous fun kicks off with the first wave of 25 starting at 10am. Additional waves will follow every 10 minutes as needed.

All participants receive a t-shirt, participation ribbon and a picnic lunch: hamburger or hotdog, chips, watermelon, cookie & drink. Spectators are welcome and additional lunch tickets can be purchased for $5 with child's registration. Cost is $20 per child prior to May 1st and $25 after May 1st. To register or for more information, contact Watson Homestead at 607-962-0541 or whomestead@stny.rr.com.
