After you've spent a wondrous few hours discovering and creating at the Corning Museum of Glass head down the street to The Rockwell Museum Holiday Open House where you will be filled with Christmas Spirit from the minute you walk in the door. The first thing you'll have to check out is the Gingerbread Houses created based on popular landmark from around the region at the Gingerbread Invitational. Do the special Gingerbread Art Hunt, and then cast your vote for your favorite! Then journey up to the Family Exploration Studio where new fun winter themed activities await you. Get to know the art at the Rockwell Museum through interactive I-Spy Games and Art Hunts. After your afternoon of exploring the museum make your very own gingerbread cookie from 3-6pm, and enjoy sweet treats and warm drinks in the museums newly renovated store. Oh, and did I mention that admission the museum is free for the weekend?
Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes is bringing Christmas Cheer to Corning on December 10th from 10am-3pm with their free family friendly Holiday Open House. Demonstrations from the blacksmith shop, and the hearth will have you feel like you are celebrating Christmas in the past. Kids can listen to stories by the fireside and make their own crafts, while mom and dad shop through Attic treasures of local historic items, quilted items, wooden toys, and unique items made right at the museum. Don't forget to catch a horse and wagon ride, and then meet Santa and get your picture taken!
Hands-on Glass Studio wants to open their doors not once, but three times through this Holiday season to let you inside to create your own special glass piece.
